WHY I'M RUNNING

 I’m running for Oregon State Senate because too many people in our community feel invisible — unheard by government, ignored by political parties, and left behind by a system that rewards loyalty to power instead of loyalty to people.

I’ve lived outside the two-party system my entire adult life. When I ran as an Independent for Governor of Oregon, I learned firsthand how difficult it is for regular citizens to be heard when they refuse to fit into a political box. That experience did not break my commitment — it strengthened it.

District 7 deserves leadership that answers to voters, not party bosses or special interests. We need solutions that are practical, humane, and rooted in common sense — not ideology, not fear, and not empty promises.

I believe in public safety and accountability. I believe in compassion with responsibility. I believe in protecting civil liberties, supporting working families, and restoring trust in government.

I’m running because Oregon works best when its leaders listen first, tell the truth, and act with courage.

And I’m ready to do exactly that.

 My name is Alex Chase. I'm a 7th generation Oregonian, and I was born and raised in Eugene. Like many people in our community, I’ve spent most of my life working outside of politics — in service, caregiving, small business, and creative work. I know what it feels like to struggle, to be overlooked, and to fight for stability in a system that often feels stacked against regular people.

I didn’t grow up with power or privilege. I learned early that if you want something to change, you have to be willing to stand up and speak — even when it’s uncomfortable.

That belief led me to run as an Independent candidate for Governor of Oregon. While that campaign ended early, it opened my eyes to how closed and controlled our political system has become. I saw firsthand how difficult it is for everyday citizens to participate when they don’t belong to a major party.

I’m running now because I believe our community deserves leadership that is honest, accessible, and accountable. I am not backed by political machines or special interests. I am backed by my neighbors, my values, and the belief that Oregon can do better.

I don’t claim to have all the answers — but I promise to listen, to learn, and to lead with integrity.

That’s the kind of public service I believe in.
